Oblation Papers & Press
Portland / Oregon
Oblation Papers & Press, employs traditional techniques to make sheets of high quality cotton paper by hand, using recycled remnants from the garment industry. Their letterpress cards are fed, one at a time, by hand into cast iron platen presses. Some presses in their studio date back over 100 years.
Favorite card received: "When I think of you why do I think of truffles" - handmade card from my husband
Favorite quote: "It is not the magnitude of the actions, but the amount of Love that is put into them that matters." - Mother Theresa
Favorite meal: At Hospoda [in New York City], walking an hour through the snow to arrive at this inventive Czech restaurant, where we were immediately given a glass of white froth that turned out to be pilsner foam, followed by an amuse-bouche of red pepper aspic, then smoked eel glazed foie gras, a steak tartare microgreens garden, a lobster poached egg, and crispy sweetbreads. Delightful.
